$450 Custom Sway Bar Project Deposit

The $450 shown on this page is a deposit to get your custom sway bar project underway. It is not the final price of a custom sway bar or complete installation kit.

Purchasing this item confirms the initial consultation and allows us to begin assessing your application and what will be required.

The $450 deposit is credited toward the final agreed price of your project. We understand writing a blank cheque might seem unreasonable to some - We invite you to raise a query here with your project so we can nail down a proper quote for you.

We Already Make a Sway Bar for Your Vehicle, But You Want Something Different?

Perfect. This is usually the easiest type of custom job.

If Griptech already has your application but you want something different, such as:

• A larger or smaller diameter

• Adjustable instead of fixed

• Fixed instead of adjustable

• Different clearance or geometry

• A different finish

• A variation to suit vehicle modifications

...there's a good chance we can use our existing master as the starting point.

For relatively minor dimensional changes to an existing application, a clear sketch showing the required change may be all we need. Draw it up, add the relevant dimensions and email it across for us to review.

After a Sway Bar We Don't Currently List?

We'll generally need a sample.

That can be the sway bar currently fitted to your vehicle or another standard bar you've sourced for the same application.

We use the sample as the master from which the new sway bar is manufactured, allowing us to reproduce the important geometry while changing the diameter or making agreed alterations.

Before sending us anything, contact us first.

Griptech retains a large library of sway bar patterns and masters, so we may already have your application or something closely related to it.

Factory Hollow Bar? Want a Solid Upgrade?

You're in the right place.

If the original sway bar is hollow and you're looking for a solid spring-steel replacement, the same process applies.

Where we have the application already, or can work from your original bar as a sample, we can investigate manufacturing a solid version in an appropriate diameter.

This can sometimes make the mounting side particularly straightforward because an existing factory bush may be available in the diameter selected for the new bar. Where that's possible, we can retain the original mounting architecture while giving you the solid-bar upgrade you're looking for.

Engine Conversion or Clearance Problem?

This is exactly the sort of custom work we regularly investigate.

For example:

• Need to clear a different sump after an engine conversion?
  

• Fitting a Jaguar front end into a hot rod or custom car?

• Need clearance around a custom Ford 9-inch differential?

• Modified the suspension or chassis?

• Existing sway bar runs straight through something that wasn't there when the vehicle left the factory?

If we already have the original sway bar pattern, we may be able to work from that and modify the geometry.

Otherwise, we'll normally need a sample, photographs, measurements or a sketch depending on how significant the change is.

The Sway Bar Is Usually the Easy Part

This is worth understanding when budgeting for a custom sway bar project.

Manufacturing the sway bar itself is generally the straightforward part for us. Mounting it to the vehicle can be the more complicated.

A complete installation may require:

• Sway bar bushes

• Steel saddles

• Connecting links

• Chassis brackets

• Axle or differential mounts

• U-bolts

• Fabricated brackets

• Fasteners and other application-specific hardware

These components are not automatically included in the $450 project deposit.

Bushes & Saddles

Bar diameter matters because the mounting bushes must suit the finished sway bar.

If you're requesting an unusual diameter for a common vehicle, or we're manufacturing a bar for a less-common application, finding or creating the appropriate mounting arrangement may be the next part of the job.

If the sway bar bush mounts against a simple flat surface, we can usually supply one of our universal steel saddle and polyurethane bush combinations in a suitable size.

If the original bush uses a profiled, shaped or otherwise application-specific mounting arrangement, we'll need more information from you. Photos, dimensions or the original components may be required so we can determine the best solution.

Sometimes an appropriate factory-style bush already exists in the new diameter, which can make the conversion considerably simpler.

Don't worry about producing an engineering drawing before contacting us.

• Vehicle make, model and year

• Front or rear sway bar

• Existing sway bar diameter, if known

• What has been modified

• What you're trying to achieve

• The diameter or specification you're considering, if known

• Clear photos for modified or unusual applications

We already make your sway bar:

We don't list your sway bar:
Contact us about supplying an original/sample bar to use as a master.

You only need a minor geometry change:
Send us a clear sketch showing the modification and relevant dimensions.

Your vehicle is substantially modified:
Send us good photographs first. We'll review the installation and tell you which measurements or components we need next.

Complete Griptech Kit Already Available?

If you're simply looking for the same specification as an existing Griptech vehicle-specific kit, buy the existing kit rather than starting a custom project.

Our complete vehicle-specific kits have already had the development work done. Depending on the application, they can include the sway bar, bushes, saddles, links, brackets, axle mounts and other hardware required to actually install the product.

However, if you like one of our existing applications but need a different diameter, different adjustment, revised geometry or another modification, then absolutely get in touch — that's exactly where our custom manufacturing capability becomes useful.
